Planny X is a new app, separate from Planny 9, to offer the best experience possible while avoiding disruptions to your current setup. Here’s everything you need to know about why Planny X is a separate app and how to migrate your purchase, tasks, and lists seamlessly.

Why Planny X is a Separate App

Planny X is built on an entirely new underlying technology, which allows for more advanced features and deeper integration, particularly with the native Reminders app. This change unlocks exciting capabilities for better organization and task management but also means that it’s a different app from Planny 9.

Additionally, Planny X introduces a redesigned, modern user interface with many new options and visual enhancements. Releasing it as a forced update to Planny 9 would have required existing users to adapt to a whole new layout and system unexpectedly. By keeping it as a separate app, we ensure that users can choose when and how to transition, making the process smoother and less disruptive. You can continue using Planny 9 if you prefer its current setup, and transition to Planny X at your own pace.

How to Migrate Your Purchase to Planny X

If You’ve Already Bought Planny 9:
Your existing purchase can be transferred to Planny X to keep your access without additional costs.

Ensure You Have the Latest Version of Planny 9
Launch Planny 9.6 (the latest update) to begin the migration process. This update is designed to save your purchase information to the cloud, enabling it to be recognized in Planny X.
Automatic Activation
Your purchase should be recognized in Planny X automatically. No additional setup should be required.

Having Issues?
If your purchase doesn’t transfer to Planny X, reach out to our support team with your existing receipt from Planny 9. We’ll assist you to ensure your purchase carries over.

Migrating Your Tasks and Lists

Planny X takes a new approach to managing tasks by fully integrating with the native Reminders app. This setup offers several benefits:

Automatic Syncing Across Devices: Tasks are available across all your devices through iCloud.
Compatibility with Reminders: Enjoy the flexibility of using both Planny X and the Reminders app for your tasks.

How to Export Tasks from Planny 9 to Reminders

Update Planny 9 to Version 9.6: Ensure that you’re running the latest version of Planny 9 to access the export feature.
Export Tasks to Reminders In Planny 9.6: go to Settings and select Export to Reminders. This will transfer your tasks and lists to the Reminders app, making them accessible in Planny X.
Restart Planny X After exporting, restart Planny X. Your tasks should now appear automatically.

Note: Some settings or task types may not transfer due to compatibility limitations. If you prefer, you can keep using Planny 9 alongside Planny X and transition over time.
